About the Artist
"Painting is my way of sharing everything that I love and find beautiful in life with others"
Prior to her career as an accomplished artist, Kati received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. After relocating to Colorado and raising a family, she decided to pursue her passion and earnestness, and enrolled in her first formal art class. Over the years, Kati has continued to expand her knowledge and technique under selected tutelage of acclaimed artists
Educated in watercolor, acrylic and pastel, Kati’s affection towards oil paintings began to dominate most of her time and canvases. Today, she enjoys the easy flow of oil paint, using a palette knife, allowing her paintings to display movement and texture to whatever degree suits the composition and personality of her subjects. Kati tends to use a generous application of paint to create depth for her that leads to character and life to each piece, with a flair for vivid color.
"Recalling the first sign of my creative expression, it would have been when I was in the 6th grade. I didn’t like the color of my school shoes, so I painted them! Fortunately, I have since traded in crayons and shoes for oil pants and canvases. Instead of brushes, I learned to paint with a palette knife. It is an interesting, fun and surprising way to paint. Very often, I don’t know what will come out of my knife. I can honestly say that I am a fearless painter."
"My style can volley between impressionism and abstract impressionism, it mostly depends on my ever-changing inspiration for the day. I love to explore the wonderful colors and textures of florals, and the ballet dancer that seems poised to twirl off the canvas and leap into the room. I am always inspired by the landscape that surrounds me and I am happiest when my paintings find a new home to be happy in."
